Pregnancy: you love it or you hate it

(Sometimes both at the same time)

Whether you love feeling pregnant, long for the day you’ll get to meet the hiccup machine that keeps kicking you in the ribs, or feel some combination of both, this time in your life is unlike any other.

Whether it’s your first or fifth pregnancy, you deserve to remember it. Just like each little human you make is different, each journey you take to get them here is different.

Maternity photography doesn’t need to be hard.

I’m here for you every step of the way, from the consultation where we get to know each other a little better, through our session, photo delivery, and beyond.

The only rule? This is about you.

  • Wear what you want (floor length gown or jeans and a tee, or anything in between. I have a prep guide to help you decide.)

  • Be yourself.

  • Get comfy.

  • I’ll guide you through the session (no awkward poses, but I also won’t leave you feeling uncomfortable and not knowing what to do with your hands).

“Allison…made me feel confident…”

"My biggest fear was that I would look and feel totally uncomfortable during the shoot. Fortunately, as soon as I met Allison I was put at ease by her down-to-earth personality and laid-back approach to the photo shoot. She was very reassuring and made me feel confident. Her professionalism and sweet demeanor created a comfortable environment for me and it definitely showed through in the final product!"

Step one:

We’ll have a 15 minute phone consultation to talk about your expectations and go over any concerns you might have before we become official. We’ll talk through logistics like locations, and when we can get together. I’ll go over the detailed pricing (no surprises), and answer every question you have. Once we decide to work together, you’ll pay a $300 session fee and sign a digital contract to hold our date and time (for when you’re around 28-34 weeks pregnant).

Fill out the contact form to get started!

Step two:

We’ll meet at your house or somewhere lovely in Richmond, and hang out for about an hour. Two weeks later, you’ll receive a slideshow with around 50 fully edited images to ooh and ahh over, where you can choose the collection that best works for you. Which leads us to…

Step three:

Choose your collection!

Along with a virtual stack of digital images, each collection option comes with a print credit, so you can get your favorite pictures where they belong: on the wall, where your family can see them.

Collections (named after iconic RVA neighborhoods) run from $1100 for all of the edited digital images, down to $600 for just a handful. You decide on the number of digital images you need.

My maternity clients spend between $900 - $1400 for the session fee and collection.

The A’s to your Q’s

  • We'll aim for 28-34 weeks into your pregnancy. If you’re already past that point, let me know, so we can expedite your session and take it off your to-do list.

  • I have a newborn + maternity package that’ll make you feel productive and efficient. Pair a 30-minute maternity session with a newborn session for an efficient and easy way to document both sides of your delivery date.

  • Every Mama-to-be has her own expectations for maternity photography. That means that the questionnaire I send you after you book will be really helpful as we plan our session!

Whether you want images together with your family or you’d prefer to let them sit this one out, the session will be all about you and your baby.

Want a more specific example of a maternity session? Here’s a blog post that might help.

  • As Covid kind of fades in the background, I’m still masking for newborn sessions and as requested for sessions in clients’ homes. I don't tend to mask outdoors.

I will be honest (and expect the same from you) if anyone in my orbit is sick. We can reschedule!

  • Life is full of surprises, isn't it? If your baby arrives early (congratulations!), we can turn the maternity session into a newborn or family session after the baby is born.

“I had nothing to be concerned about”

“I was apprehensive about maternity photos, so I was worried at first, but I had nothing to be concerned about. Our photos were gorgeous and I absolutely love them! We can’t wait to have Allison do our in-home newborn photos, too.”

– Melissa

This is the quiet stillness before the storm of babyhood that will change your life forever.

Joyful or somber, peaceful or chaotic, this pregnancy will only happen once, and I can help you celebrate it in a way that feels true to you and your family.
