Finding Light: February 365 Project

It’s time for another installment of personal images from my 365 project. I took a class through the month of February called The Magic of Light that really challenged me to photograph differently, and the images I’ve chosen to reflect February also reflect the lessons I learned in class. Here’s my month, curated:

After the general fog (and illness) of January, it felt really great to spend more time outside in February. The days are longer, the sun is more cooperative, and it hasn’t felt like the doldrums that February sometimes produces in me.

We even had a chance to visit my parents and tromp around in my old neighborhood. The change of scenery and pace was exactly what we needed.

The Magic of Light class I took this month really opened my eyes to some new (to me) techniques, and I’ve been practicing them on my (usually) willing subjects. I love how taking classes and learning new things makes photography challenging again, and helps me up my game as I become more adept at it. Finding the light and using it to my advantage, instead of being at its mercy, has really unlocked some new “aha” doors for me. And it only took me 30 years.
